Ross Van Brunt 2004

Montana Bull
12/27/2004

Ross Van Brunt of Kalispell, Montana, enjoyed a dream hunting season in 2004. A high school senior, he beat odds of 40-1 to draw a Shiras moose tag and 300-1 for a bighorn sheep tag in one of Montana's top areas. Hunting with his father as he has every year of his life, Ross took a 40-inch bighorn the second day of season with guide Keith Atcheson. Father and son spent the next two months looking for a huge bull moose, unable to get a clear shot. The last day of season and after passing on him several times in previous weeks, Ross took this bull with his Kimber rifle, even though a bull that was likely better was in view but didn't offer a clear shot.

Thanks for the photo Ross and for wearing your Hunt Fair Chase hat.
