“Hunters and hunting are an integral and irreplaceable part of the successes we have achieved in wildlife and habitat conservation. Unfortunately both are increasingly being subject to attack and misrepresentation. The constant stream of destructive criticism directed toward hunting is slowly eroding the public support we have rightfully earned for over a century. This situation will not fix itself, nor will the non-hunting public be able to separate fact from fiction on their own. We must teach them. Better yet, we must show them. The best way to do this is to hunt responsibly, respectfully, and ultimately defensibly—and ensure others do as well.”

“It is best to keep in mind that in any broad public debate, to be heard and understood you must first have earned your permission to speak. Fair chase is our permission to speak. It says that hunters are principled men and women who are not only committed the law, but also a personal code of ethics that extends beyond the law. This is something no one can shoot holes in.”
